Dillsboro, North Carolina, boasts a vibrant history. It was initially known as New Webster, but in 1889, it was renamed Dillsboro in honor of William Allen Dills, who established the town on his farm.
The town’s growth surged in 1883 with the advent of the railroad, spurring tourism and economic development. In 1884 Mr. Dills built the hotel naming it Mount Beulah Hotel. Dills sold the hotel in 1894 to R.H. Jarrett & Sons of Franklin, and Frank Jarrett took over the management and renamed the establishment the Jarrett Springs Hotel.
Since 1886, Dillsboro has been a favored destination for tourists, drawn by its cool summers and stunning mountain scenery. The town was also a pioneer in communications, having installed the first telephone system in Jackson County, linking the New Webster depot with the county seat for telegrams. Over the years, Dillsboro has preserved its historical charm, with many buildings dating back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
We are proud to be given this opportunity to restore one of Dillsboro's most iconic buildings, the historic Jarrett House. The Jarrett House has stood as a testament to the rich heritage and enduring charm of our community. Our dedicated team is committed to preserving its unique character and architectural beauty while incorporating modern enhancements to ensure its continued functionality and safety. This restoration project is more than just a construction endeavor; it is a labor of love and respect for the history that has shaped Dillsboro. We are honored to contribute to the preservation of such a treasured landmark and to play a part in its story for future generations to appreciate and enjoy.
